Ask Robert Hussle, a partner in the Firm’s Corporate Department, about
Nicholas House and, in a few short minutes, he tells the compelling story of a local nonprofit organization helping homeless families regain self-sufficiency. Family homelessness is something that is often overlooked and underserved. A common misconception is that homelessness is limited to individuals. However, in reality, there are many homeless families in the Atlanta community, and most homeless shelters are forced to split up these families. Nicholas House is different; it keeps families intact in its shelter or in one of its subsidized apartments and helps those families develop the skills necessary to be self-sufficient. The Nicholas House program has a very high success rate. That success is a testament to the dedication of its staff, its board and the community. It is easy to see why Robert has been part of the board for the last two and a half years and currently serves as the Board Vice President.
If you ask Robert how he became involved, he quickly replies, "A client introduced me to Nicholas House and asked me to tour the facility. After that, I was hooked." Nicholas House provides a valuable, necessary service to families in Atlanta. He feels his contribution as a board member, whether it is providing guidance on challenges the organization is facing or soliciting donations, makes a difference. It is clear that Robert enjoys his involvement with Nicholas House and that he takes pride in the contribution Nicholas House is making to the community.
