SATURDAY LAWYER PROGRAM

07.15.11
Kerri Gildow, Of Counsel with the Firm, is among the volunteers who were involved with the Saturday Lawyer Program in 2011.

The Saturday Lawyer Program is a joint effort between the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation (AVLF) and the Atlanta Legal Aid Society (ALAS). This program provides low-income individuals from within our community with access to legal guidance and representation from volunteer attorneys on civil legal matters such as consumer debt and garnishments, landlord-tenant disputes, and securing unpaid wages.

Volunteers are provided with succinct training materials beforehand which includes information on the process, how to interview the clients, and primers on the potential areas of law. The volunteers then conduct in-depth interviews with their clients during the Saturday morning session. They have the option to bring back any unresolved matters to the firm in order to continue handling and providing legal representation to their client.

Providing legal guidance to those in need is an important part of being an attorney and giving back to the community. Rogers & Hardin sponsors the Saturday Lawyer Program and fully supports the firm’s participation in this important program. Volunteers are provided with meaningful pro bono opportunities and a valuable way to enhance their legal skills on a variety of legal issues.
